Translation funding
SODEC provides financial support for the translation of literary works written by Québec authors. The program is designed to boost the visibility and circulation of Québec literature on the world stage by helping with translation costs for foreign publishers who have bought the rights to a book. To be eligible, works must be in one of the following categories: poetry, theatre, storytelling, novels, short stories, children’s literature, human sciences essays, comic books or songbooks. Translations can be done in the buyer’s country and costs are left to the parties’ discretion. Applications for funding must however be submitted to SODEC through a Québec publisher.
